Who is M2X Communications?

M2X Communications is a state-of-the-art fiber optic telecommunications company that brings fiber optic service all the way to the home.  It is the most current technology that is “future proof”, capable of delivering ultra-fast Internet connections, plus home telephone and TV service. Not all services available in all areas. M2X Communications is a family-owned and operated broadband communications company, located in McClure, OH. M2X’s parent company, The McClure Telephone Company, has been providing service to the community since 1910.

How does M2X Communications Fiber benefit me?

Having the most capable and reliable infrastructure provides more value to the community and its residents.  Customers are constantly needing and demanding higher amounts of bandwidth in their homes.  This fiber investment prepares us all for what is to come.

Is this M2X Communications first time offering fiber to the home?

No, we have been offering fiber to the Village of McClure since 2008 and to portions of Grand Rapids since 2018.

What services can I get with M2X Communications?

M2X Communications will offer Internet and Telephone services in McClure.  In Grand Rapids and all areas North of the Maumee River we will only offer Internet service.

What is the process to get fiber to my house/neighborhood?

After enough interest is shown for a particular neighborhood (through filling out this form), we will start the Sign-Up phase to determine the level of commitment by a prospective area.

We will need to reach a certain % of registered customers to commit to providing service to an area. A registered customer is one that has completed an application for service, signed a contract, and paid their first month’s service or install fee.

After we have reached our commitment requirements for a prospective area, we will begin construction on your fiber network!

Is there a term contract to sign up?

If you reside North of the river, we do require a 2-year contract.  

What happens if I break my contract?

An early termination fee equal to 50% of the total monthly charges for the remaining length of the contract will be applied up to a maximum of $350.

Is there an installation fee?

A $100 installation fee will apply when a fiber drop needs to be buried/hung to the business or residence. Installation includes your fiber drop, fiber optic service(s) installation, and setup to once device such as a computer or router.

A $50 installation fee will apply when the address of the business or residence has previously had fiber service. Installation includes setup to once device such as a computer or router.

The cost of your installation fee will be billed on your first months bill.

Why do I have to pay a deposit equal to my first months service and What happens to the money I pay upfront?

The money that we ask for up front is equal to the estimated amount of your first month’s bill.  This payment shows that you are serious about taking advantage of our service(s). We apply this payment to your account right away and it holds on your account as a credit until you are fully installed and we begin billing you.  M2X Communications will refund your full deposit if we do not proceed with a fiber build in your neighborhood within 12 months. We will not refund your deposit if you sign up for services and we have already buried/hung your fiber drop and you cancel service for some reason. We will put the deposit towards the full cost of the installation charge that will still be billed to you.

What is better . . . fiber optic, cable, DSL, or wireless?

Fiber Optic is the fastest Internet option available; it is not shared and provides far greater speeds to enhance your experience.  If you use Internet in any way and can sign up for fiber, you should!  You will not be disappointed. 

If I switch my Internet service to M2X Communications, can I keep my @frontier, @spectrum, @metalink email address?

Customers who have switched to M2X Communications from other providers may not be able to keep their current email addresses.  You will need to check with your current provider to see what their policy is.

We do not assign customers a @mym2x email address.  Why? We find that most customers already have a @gmail or @yahoo email address.  Also, not providing an email address allows us to keep our costs lower which equals a savings for you.

Do you have a modem charge?

We do not use a Modem. We use an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) which is placed inside your home. This ONT transfers the light from the fiber into the copper connection of your router. There is no charge for this equipment.

Do you supply a router?

No, we do not supply a router. There are many kinds of routers out there for different applications and prices. It is in the best interest of our customers to supply their own router, so it meets their Internet needs.
